For quite some time, I’ve been In Search Of a podcast focussed on women’s contemporary fashion. This last month, I’ve been Out Of Office working on a podcast with my favorite person in fashion, Ruby Redstone (Old Fashioned) And today… that podcast is out!
Introducing: COVERED.
Covered is a fashion history podcast that examines the legacy of the clothes we wear today. Each episode of Covered will focus on a different moment in fashion history. Where do our trends come from? And how can we look at the way we dress today as an extension of our culture? While there are plenty of podcasts focussed on men’s contemporary style, Ruby and I have been searching for a show that focuses on women’s fashion. After 5 years in podcasting, I’m really excited to be making a show that I’ve been waiting to hear.
I’ve always been captivated by media that adds an academic spin to conversations that have been classified as trite or undeserving of further analysis. Fashion can be superficial or it can be a tool we can use to understand our past and present culture. Clothing can signal the complexities that formerly existed only inside of us, or in my case, a lens through which I can better understand my own relationship to desire.
Our first episode covers something very near and dear to my heart. Each week, Ruby and I will send out a curated list of recommendations to pair with each week’s theme. You can sign up for that content here.
Next month, ISO returns. This month, I hope that you’ll follow along as Ruby and I cover up!
xx,
Nat
